Our morning begins with a tour of the Queluz National Palace, which enchants for its grandeur and the exuberance of its architectural details, the palace reflects the evolution of the tastes and styles of the time, passing through Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassicism. The Queluz Gardens, at the National Palace, are part of the “European Route of Historic Gardens”, which has been part of the “Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe” since 2020.
After lunch (not included) we will visit the Royal Convent of Mafra, later christened the National Palace of Mafra, it is the most important symbol of Baroque architecture in Portugal. Located in the heart of the town of Mafra – in the square named after the king who ordered it to be built, D. João V, it is the only National Monument that includes a Royal Palace, a Basilica and a Convent. And it is, since 2019, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
